Every Day Italian

I knew that looking back and all the times I had cried would one day make me laugh. What I didn't realize, was that looking back on all the times I laughed would one day make me cry.

Sunday nite....

I sit in anticipation for 9:16pm- the time at which I hit play in the tiVo and Grey's Anatomy begins to play. I sit and listen for the first few lines. The cliche saying that we've all heard, in one way or another, hundreds of times. Then I spend the next hour waiting to see what special twist or explaination they can give. Here are some of my faves from Grey's.

"We have to make our own mistakes. We have to learn our own lessons. We have to sweep today's possibility under tomorrow's rug until we
can't anymore. Until we finally understand for ourselves what Benjamin
Franklin really meant. That knowing is better than wondering, that waking is better than sleeping, and even the biggest failure, even the worst, beats the hell out of never trying."

"We're adults. When did that happen? And how can we make it stop?"

"I believe, for the most part, love is about choices. It is about putting down the poison and the dagger and making your own happy ending, most of the time. And that somtimes, depite all your best choices and all your best intentions, fate wins anyway. "

"Communicaton. It's the first thing we really learn in life. Funny thing is, once we grow up, learn our words and really start talking the harder it becomes to know what to say. Or how to ask for what we really need. "

How neat! Wake up in the morning to hear a few lines that will set up the lesson the day will reveal. I doubt any of these would be in my opening morning credits, but it is cool to think that maybe it could. More than likely my opening lines would say "Go back to bed." or "Honest relationships are found through trials".

Anyway, next time you sit down to watch Grey's
or any other show for that matter, pay attention to the opening lines...it is good stuff.
Cue the music.
