Saturday's Mavs Game
I wasn't really sure what to expect from the Mavs game. I'm not a huge basketball fan, and don't pretend to be, but it was fun. Sheri and I took the train all the way to American Airline Center in Dallas (best parking spot in the place)
When we arrived, first stop was to pick up our tickets. Next stop, the Fan Shop....and that's where I made my discovery. I saw the name Dampier on the back of a jersey. Immediately my mind recalls the name Erick Dampier, a popular name in basketball when I attended Mississippi State. Sure enough, it was the same Erick Dampier.
Side story: The year I turned 21. He had returned to MSU for a visit. Anyway, long story short, I had my (not completely sober) picture taken with him.
Back to the story.... I walked out of the FAN SHOP with a t-shirt. As I stepped inside the bathroom to slip it over my head, I hear how he is a scapegoat for something completely unbeknownst to me. Afterall, I was a fan for all of 5 minutes before hearing this story. Sadly, I pulled my jacket tighter so no one would make questioning looks as to why I was showing my support.
Within the first few minutes of tip off, the jacket was off, and the number 25 was showing.
I managed to check out the place, which by the way is very nice, ate wonderful junk food, and managed to see a decent game before catching the next train home. Great time all around. Sheri has posted more pics on her blog, chem them out here.

Those that spoke poorly of Dampier are singing a different tune after last night! (See article in link posted above.)
And why would you hide your support? No reason to be ashamed of someone from home makin the big time! Yeah, he's had some bad times, but he's still in the NBA and his name is still on a jersey!
I thought you were going to blog last night...
